small and quiet

I've been in my new job for almost a month now and I'm still learning so much my head is abuzz at the end of each day.  Sitting and stitching on a stone helps focus me on the small thing in my hands and away from all of the open questions and tasks left undone.

It might be avoidance, to some degree, but perhaps also self-preservation.  It is a loving thing to give yourself some of your own time and to nurture those things that make you happy.  Even if those things are as small and quiet as a stone.

What are you going to do to nurture yourself today?

As my full time day job is being a teacher of English I really need making things in the evening too when relaxing that have nothing to do with my job.Cross stitch, a beaded felted sea glass stone or even some amigurumi crochet! That's what I usually make.AriadnefromGreece!

That's a phrase for the ages. Amen.

My Mom just entered hospice so iam finding all kinds of small comfort things to do with her during the day. Right now we are knitting together and watching the snow outside the window. I am spending most of my knitting time finishing hats and mitts that just need to be bound off or thumbs added. This morning our big comfort thing was I took all the red and purple jelly beans out of the candy bowl and put them back in the bag because both of us prefer the green and yellow jelly beans and why eat the ones we don't like ; )

My long winter break is just about over. Time to go back to the real world and my job. I really need to do something creative when I get home from work. Usually I do some felting or embroidery or make jewelry to sell where I work! Hey are you able to sell those wet felted flower brooches you made where you work?

Ariadne - being a teacher is a hard job, but oh so important. Thank you for what you do.

Kristy - Do you keep a blog too? You always leave the kindest comments and I'd love to reciprocate but can't find a link back to you. And yes! They did accept my brooches at the shop, which makes me happy. :) Thanks for asking!

Whatzit - I'm so sorry about your mom. What a blessing to be able to spend this precious time together doing what's important, tossing out the red and purple jelly beans included! hugs
